New Fall/Winter Schedule and Veterans Day Weekend Ideas

It's that time of the year again when the days start to get a little shorter, and the city is coming down off the energy rush of summer. But, it is after all San Francisco, so there is still no shortage of things to do.

This next Thursday is Veteran's Day, and in honor of the Holiday, many National Parks are waiving their entrance fees. So, if you're in the mood to plan a nice little holiday this is a great weekend to take the family out to Muir woods on Thursday and up to visit San Francisco for a Duck tour and a nice dinner on the Wharf!

We are now operating on our limited Fall/Winter schedule. Hours for Ride the Ducks are as follows:

Monday-Friday: 11am, 1pm, 3pm

Saturday & Sunday: 10-5pm hourly

Giants Victory Parade

We are proud to say that yesterday was a very big day for our sister company, Classic Cable Car Partners.

We had 15 Cable Cars that held San Francisco's most famous and beloved Giants Champions and we were lucky enough to catch Lincicum, Torres, Posey (to name a few) on film! Check out this fantastic video and if you have any cool pictures yourself, please share!

Giants Win the World Series! Ducks join in Victory Parade!

It always seems that there is some special event pretty much every week in San Francisco but tomorrow is a rare and special occasion.

As you all very well may know by now the Giants won the World Series, a feat that has only happened once before and that was in 1954!

We are tremendously excited to announce that we will be leading the procession at the Giant's victory parade tomorrow.

We will have 15 Cable Cars as well as 4 Ducks in the celebration and we will travel along the route that the Giant's first took upon arriving to San Francisco from New York in 1958. The procession will then end at Civic Center, where San Francisco Mayor, Gavin Newsom will present to the team, the Key to the City.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early and take public transportation.

The parade starts tomorrow morning at 11:00 am on Montgomery and Washington streets, it will then head south.

Meet Splash

As the official mascot for Ride The Ducks, Splash is an animated, ducky caricature that is the face of a company that sells nothing but fun! Standing at 6’0” and weighing in at a whopping 200 pounds, Splash’s sunny disposition exemplifies the personality of Ride The Ducks. Considered “fowl” by some, most children and adults gravitate to this fun-loving mascot upon first sight.
Everywhere he goes, Splash gives a little piece of himself away…even when he’s not available to hop aboard personally to join guests for their “quack-tacular” tour of the City-by-the-Bay. As a special souvenir for Ride The Ducks patrons, Splash has trademarked his fabulously famous “bill” and replicated his own “Wacky Quackers™” which is gifted to each rider so that they too can make a big splash during their journey through San Francisco. About the Duck Vehicle

Ducks were first built by General Motors in 1942 and were basically a truck enclosed in a water-tight shell. You may think they are called ducks because they can splash into the water and out again, but actually DUKW is a military acronym. The letters are codes indicating that it was designed in 1942 (D), for utility/amphibious purposes (U), with front wheel drive (K), and two rear driving axles (W).

The first operational use of the DUKW was in March, 1943, when the U.S. landed Army troops on Noumea, New Caledonia. Later organized into companies, the DUKW displayed its versatility by carrying ammunition directly from anchored ships to shore.

Today Ride The Ducks is the amphibious tour industry leader - with over 75 vehicles in operation on rivers, lakes, bays and other waterways around the USA. The Ride The Ducks vehicle is considered a "state of the art" amphibious vehicle vehicle built from the ground up to maximize a safe and comfortable tour for our guests.
